Three men were arrested after being caught dumping wood scraps along a road in Tondo, Manila, on the afternoon of Feb. 3.
Police identified the suspects as Ryan, 42; Rolly, 52; and Pedro, 53.
They were apprehended at around 3:30 p.m. in front of Inland Corp. along Mel Lopez Boulevard southbound in Barangay 105, Tondo.
According to Lt. Col. Ronald De Leon, chief of the Raxabago Police Station (PS-1), and barangay watchmen, the suspects were spotted dumping pieces of wood from an aluminum wing van truck.
They immediately reported the incident to the Smokey Mountain Police Community Precinct.
Responding police officers arrived at the scene and confirmed that debris had been illegally dumped on the roadway, prompting the arrest of the suspects for violating Section 48 of Republic Act No. 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
Authorities also seized the aluminum wing van truck loaded with wood scraps as evidence.
The suspects were informed of their rights and were brought to the Gat Andres Bonifacio Medical Center for a mandatory physical examination before being subjected to inquest proceedings.
