1 hurt as unpaid debt leads to stabbing in Antipolo City
A tricycle driver almost lost one of his fingers after another tricycle driver attacked him with a knife due to an unpaid debt in Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City, Rizal, on Thursday, Feb. 5.
According to the Antipolo City Police, the victim owes the suspect P5,000 after the former promised to give him another tricycle unit.
However, he had allegedly spent the money he owed the suspect, prompting the latter to attack the victim upon spotting him on the road.
Armed with a knife, the suspect lunged at the victim, who was armed with a huge pipe, almost severing the victim's finger off his hand before barangay officials and police officers were able to pacify the two.
The victim was quickly rushed to the hospital and is now in stable condition.
During the inquest proceedings, the suspect said the victim was avoiding him for months due to his debt to him.
“Talagang may utang siya akin. Ayun lang po. Para sa boundary ng hulog ko sa motor, tricycle ko (He really does owe me money for my trip boundary and payment for my motorcycle)," the suspect said.
He is currently detained at the Antipolo City Police custodial facility and is facing attempted homicide charges.
