The identity of Mary Grace Piattos, an alleged recipient of Vice President Sara Duterte's confidential funds, will remain a mystery, after all.

This, as Duterte's defense team clarified on Thursday, Feb. 6, that the controversial Mary Grace Piattos will not be part of its defense as they are set to face the fresh impeachment complaint against the Vice President.

Lawyer Michael Poa, one of Duterte's counsels, denied making any statements or announcements that Mary Grace Piattos will be presented as their defense.

"For clarity, this is inaccurate. I have not made any such statement, nor have I confirmed or announced any such course of action," Poa said.

On Wednesday, Feb. 4. Poa said that the defense team was ready to answer all allegations, including the controversies surrounding Mary Grace Piattos.

"We are prepared to address all allegations, including confidential fund issues. Kasama na dyan yung paratang (Those include the allegations) on names such as Mary Grace Piattos)," he said.

Duterte is being challenged anew after House members endorsed an impeachment complaint for the second time since she assumed office four years ago.

Duterte is still not safe from being removed from office despite the Supreme Court’s recent back-to-back decision, declaring and upholding that the previous impeachment case filed against her as unconstitutional.
