Mayor April Aguilar led the commemoration of the 81st anniversary of Las Piñas Liberation Day on February 4, highlighted by a parade of war veterans and a Holy Mass.
The activity was organized by the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office, headed by Mr. Paul Ahljay M. San Miguel.
Vice Mayor Imelda Aguilar joined the parade honoring veterans who fought for the liberation of the city and the nation from Japanese occupation during World War II.
San Miguel said the parade, led by Banda San Jose, proceeded to the Veterans’ Monument under the Zapote Bridge in Barangay Zapote, setting a solemn and patriotic tone for the ceremony.
The program included a brief ceremony and a Mass attended by veterans and their families, whose names are inscribed on the monument.
The mass was offered in honor of the veterans’ bravery, sacrifice and patriotism.
Aguilar said the commemoration reaffirmed the city’s gratitude and respect for its heroes, whose courage continues to inspire present and future generations.
