Hundreds of Ilonggos gained access to homes and rental units through the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program as President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. pushed to bring government services directly to local communities.
Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) President and CEO Federico Laxa, and Iloilo Rep. Jamjam Baronda led the awarding ceremony.
They turned over certificates of entitlement to 367 members of the Mirasol Ville Homeowners Association Inc. under the Enhanced Community Mortgage Program (ECMP).
Shelter repair kits donated by USAID were also distributed to 300 families affected by a fire in another Iloilo City community.
Aliling and Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Trenas handed certificates of entitlement to 213 families under Presidential Proclamation 1538, ending a 27-year wait for land tenure security and giving beneficiaries peace of mind.
Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to Marcos, saying the program addressed concerns that had persisted for decades.
The event also marked the launch and inspection of Iloilo City’s first rental housing project under Expanded 4PH in Barangay Sambag, Jaro District.
The project will feature two seven-story buildings with 362 units and very low monthly rental rates.
It is targeted for completion by 2027, making it the first rental housing initiative in the Visayas under the program.
“These activities prove that the Expanded 4PH program of President Marcos Jr. is moving forward steadily, and the response of our partners—from local government units to respected contractors—has been excellent,” Aliling said.
“Since we offered and introduced more housing modalities, we now have specific housing programs for specific segments of society—from the working class up to informal settler families. We have transformed Expanded 4PH into a more inclusive program for all,” he added.
