ESPINOSA
TACLOBAN CITY — The Regional Trial Court Branch 14 in Cebu City issued a warrant of arrest for murder on Wednesday against Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolan “Kerwin” Espinosa and four others.
The court recommended no bail for the accused.
Espinosa had not been seen in the town since Jan. 20. He denied hiding but he admitted that he intentionally skipped public appearances for security.
A source said Espinosa was indicted in September 2024 for an alleged murder case in Baybay City.
“Wala pa po kaming nareceive na warrant kung anong kaso. But I will face the case kung ano man.”
(I have not received any warrant for any case. But I will face any case)
He added that the case is another tactic by his political rivals to disrupt his position as mayor, just as they did to his father.
Espinosa assured that he will submit himself once he receives a copy of the warrant.
He also assured that services and proposed projects will continue in the coming months, with his sister, Vice Mayor Mariel Espinosa, in charge, especially the construction of a hospital.
“Do not worry because the truth will prevail,” he said.
