ILOILO CITY – All 110 police chiefs in Western Visayas region tested negative in mandatory drug testing this week.
The Police Regional Office-6 said that no police commander in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo provinces as well as the capital of Iloilo City was found to be using illegal drugs.
“The negative results reflect the professionalism and discipline of our police leaders. Integrity is non-negotiable in the police service, and this activity sends a clear message that those entrusted with command positions must remain beyond reproach,” said PRO-6 chief Police Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan.
Ligan said drug testing is not merely complying with mandatory requirements. “It is an important measure that sustains public trust that police leadership is credible in the continuous campaign against illegal drugs.”
Ligan said PRO-6 will also conduct random drug testing every now and then to maintain drug-free police in Western Visayas and uphold ethical standards.
“We will remain relentless in enforcing accountability within our ranks. A disciplined and trustworthy police force is essential to delivering responsive, people-centered policing to the communities we serve,” Ligan added.
