Soon to become an iconic landmark, Tryp by Wyndham Samal was officially unveiled at a groundbreaking ceremony held on January 29, 2026, at the sland Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS). Supported by the strong partnership between Damosa Land and Phinma Hospitality, the 8-story condotel development is being positioned as a premier leisure and business destination in the Davao region.
“The partnership between Phinma and Anflocor now spans almost 20 years. Today, we continue with our first branded condo development together. Phinma’s roots in Mindanao run deep, with investments in Davao. Their commitment to inclusive growth in countryside development and nation building aligns very closely with our role as developers,” said Damosa Land Inc. (DLI) President Ricardo F. Lagdameo. DLI is the real estate and property development arm of Anflo Management and Investment Corporation (Anflocor). Tryp by Wyndham Samal marks the third hospitality project between Phinma Hospitality and DLI.

“Our partnership began in 2006 with a visit to Microtels in Cavite. (Then) In 2007, with Microtel by Wyndham Davao. This continued in 2013 with Microtel by Wyndham in General Santos City. We are taking the next step together with Tryp by Wyndham Samal, the first condotel project that we will operate,” said Phinma Hospitality CEO Jose Mari Del Rosario.
The project is also Samal’s first four-star global hospitality brand, with Wyndham Hotels and Resorts managing the operations as its franchise. Wyndham is one of the largest hospitality groups, with properties in over 95 countries.
"Samal Island is a strategic location that brings together strong branding, sound investment, and long-term value. It offers the natural appeal of a leisure destination while remaining just minutes from a major urban center. The island is experiencing rapid growth across tourism, residential, business, and MICE segments, driven by major township developments such as Bridgeport and the construction of the Samal Island and Davao City connector bridge. These developments have strengthened Samal’s long-term potential, making it an ideal location for hospitality, development, and investment,” said Del Rosario.

The project also welcomes investors. Approved under the SEC-RENT (rental pool) framework, a first in the country, Tryp Samal reflects Damosa Land’s disciplined approach to responsible investment and long-term value creation.
“The project will feature around 100 hotel rooms. Since this is a condotel development, these 100 rooms actually represent 100 investors who will now have a stake in Samal Island. It's not just building a hotel, but it's about welcoming 100 new partners to the island city,” said Lagdameo.
Under the rental pool profit-sharing scheme, investors could gain a 40 percent share from net room revenue and a 6 percent annual yield at 60 percent occupancy. With a starting price of P9.5 million, investors can enjoy flexible payment terms in investments, quarterly profit sharing, and 15 free night stays per year, among other benefits.
The room types are Standard A (32 sqm), Standard B (30 sqm), Family Room (34 sqm), Fitness Room (35 sqm), Deluxe (54 sqm), and Suite (78 sqm). According to Lagdameo, 30 rooms have already been taken through pre-selling that began last year.

The condotel’s exterior will blend seamlessly with the natural landscape, following the architecture conceptualized by Nakpil Architecture’s Luis Nakpil and 10Design’s Jose Silva as lead architects. Inspired by the island and the Mindanao region, the interiors designed by 8by8 Design Studio Co. will feature carefully selected accents such as the headboard art influenced by Makdayaw weaving and ceiling installations inspired by Uyaanan, the Mansaka tribal house.
Its amenities include a 240-seater ballroom, restaurant and bar, infinity-edge roof deck pool, fitness gym, kids’ playroom, game and play lounge area, and all-day beachfront access to a white sand beach.
The property is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028 and is expected to open in the first quarter of 2029.
