Police probe murder of tricycle driver in GenSan
Nurse passenger killed by stray bullet
Police are conducting a thorough investigation of a shooting incident in General Santos City on Monday where a tricycle driver was killed and a registered nurse was collateral damage.
The victims were identified as tricycle driver Iven Miano Conde and nurse Nhiezer Rolliene Jane U. Aguacito.
Investigation said the 32-year-old driver was transporting four passengers and stopped in a traffic light when gunmen onboard a motorcycle appeared.
The suspects fired at the tricycle driver who sustained bullet wounds and died on the spot. Aguacito was hit by a stray bullet and taken to a hospital where he she died.
Fired cartridges were recovered at the scene.
Police are pursuing the suspects and conducting follow-up investigation. Personal grudge is being eyed as possible motive as Conde was allegedly involved in a rape case.
Reports said an individual was looking for Conde before he was shot.
The victims’ family is appealing for justice.
In a statement, the Police Regional Office-12 said they are actively investigating the incident.
“We already directed GSCPO to investigate thoroughly and ensure that the perpetrators are identified and held accountable in accordance with the law,” the PRO-12 said.
“We want to assure the public that PRO-12 remains fully committed to the safety and security of all residents of General Santos City. We urge anyone with information to come forward to assist law enforcement. These acts of violence are unacceptable and will be met with the full force of the law. The PNP will continue to protect life, uphold peace, and ensure that the rule of law prevails in our communities.”
The General Santos City police denounced the killing.
“The senseless killing is unacceptable under any circumstances and the GSCPO appeals for public’s help by giving information as we course for investigation to bring guilty perpetrators.”
Aguacito graduated from the Sultan Kudarat State University-College of Health Sciences in 2024.
The school mourned her death in a statement.
“She is remembered by faculty and peers alike for her kindness and vibrant spirit. Her untimely departure is a loss that resonates deeply within our halls,” it said.
“We wish to express our deepest condolences to the Aguacito family during this unimaginably difficult time. We stand in solidarity with them as they seek justice and peace. Our thoughts and prayers are also with the friends and batchmates who are grieving this sudden loss.”
