Police investigated an alleged bomb threat at Centro Escolar University (CEU) along Mendiola Street in San Miguel, Manila, on Tuesday, Feb. 3, the Manila Police District (MPD) said.
According to the Barbosa Police Station (PS-14), the threat stemmed from an email received by the University Student Council president at around 9:36 a.m., warning of an alleged explosive device inside several buildings within the university premises.
Authorities were formally informed of the incident at about 11:05 a.m.
The email, sent from an unidentified address, contained threatening language, listed several campus buildings, and urged occupants to leave the premises before a specified time.
The message also included political statements.
Upon receiving the email, university officials immediately coordinated with campus security, which conducted an initial inspection of the premises.
No suspicious items were found during the initial security sweep.
The incident was later reported to the Barbosa Police Station, prompting responding officers led by police officials to proceed to the university.
Personnel from the MPD District Explosive and Canine Unit (DECU) also arrived and conducted a thorough paneling of the buildings mentioned in the threat.
Police said no explosive devices or suspicious materials were discovered during the inspection.
Authorities are continuing to verify the source of the email and determine the intent behind the threat, while appropriate documentation is being prepared for further investigation.
Classes and campus activities were closely monitored as a precautionary measure during the police operation.
