MGEN lights up the festival parade – celebrating tradition and powering a better tomorrow across the Visayas.
As Filipinos gathered for some of the Visayas’ most iconic festivals, Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGEN) – through its thermal business units in Cebu and Panay – participated in three major cultural celebrations this season: Sinulog in Cebu, Dinagyang in Iloilo, and Ati-Atihan in Aklan.
This reflected its strong ties with the communities it serves and its continued support for local culture and shared traditions.
Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo marked MGEN’s largest presence this season, with its participation as a Bronze Festival Sponsor. MGEN, through Panay Energy Devlopment Corp. (PEDC), joined key events throughout the celebration, including the Ilomination and Float Parade of Lights and the Dagyang! Tukar Band Fest – bringing festival-goers together through live music and high-energy performances by Filipino artists.
As part of the festivities, MGEN distributed shirts and caps to 250 street cleaners – recognizing the essential role they play in keeping the city moving during the festival season.
During the Ati-Atihan Festival in Kalibo, Aklan, one of the country’s oldest festivals, known for its street-level participation. MGEN’s thermal business unit Panay Power Corp. marked its 20-year presence in the province by joining the business sector’s parade alongside fellow organizations, celebrating a milestone shaped by long-standing partnerships in the community.
The Sinulog Festival in Toledo, Cebu brought together faith, culture, and community in one of the country’s most deeply rooted traditions. MGEN, through Cebu Energy Development Corp. (CEDC) and Toledo Power Co. (TPC), participated in the Sinulog Grand Parade with a colorful float that moved through the streets alongside thousands of devotees, performers, and spectators honoring the Santo Niño.
Its involvement formed part of the festivities in a province where it continues to operate and support the region’s growing energy needs.
MGEN continues to power a better tomorrow with a diversified energy portfolio spanning thermal, LNG, and renewable sources, helping meet the country’s growing demand for reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy.
Across the three festivals, it highlighted its active presence in the Visayas, taking part in moments that matter to the communities where it operates and working alongside local partners during celebrations that bring people together.
