Malacañang has declared February 13 a special non-working holiday in Parañaque City through Proclamation No. 1158 in recognition of the city’s 28th founding anniversary.
Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said that by the authority of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Proclamation No. 1158 was signed by acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto.
Olivarez said the proclamation highlights the importance of allowing Parañaqueños to fully participate in activities commemorating the city’s transformation into a highly urbanized city.
He added that the declaration also aims to allow residents to celebrate the milestone through appropriate ceremonies and community events.
Parañaque was officially converted into a city on February 13, 1998. Since then, it has continued to grow as one of Metro Manila’s key urban centers, known for its economic development, cultural heritage, and public service initiatives.
The city government welcomed the declaration, noting that the special holiday will give residents time to reflect on the city’s progress and actively take part in the anniversary celebrations.
