ILOILO CITY – Mayors in Iloilo province support the Senate bill sponsored by Sen. Aquino expediting classroom construction and address classroom shortage in the country.
Aquino thanked the League of Municipalities of the Philippines-Iloilo Chapter headed by its president, Mayor Suzette A. Mamon of Badiangan town, for supporting the proposed measure – Classroom-Building Acceleration Program (CAP) Act.
“Malaking bagay ang pagtindig at pagkakaisa ng municipal mayors ng Iloilo para tugunan ang matagal nang classroom backlog at masigurong may ligtas, maayos, at disenteng silid-aralan ang bawat estudyanteng Pilipino (It is a great thing for the municipal mayors of Iloilo to stand up and unite to address the long-standing classroom backlog and ensure that every Filipino student has a safe, clean, and decent classroom),” said Aquino in a Feb. 3 Facebook post.
Under the CAP Act, local government units (LGUs) and non-government organizations (NGOs) are allowed to construct classrooms in their own localities in accordance with the standards and guidelines of the Department of Education (DepEd).
Aquino received the LMP-Iloilo Chapter resolution of support from Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. during the sidelight of the 2026 Dinagyang Festival.
LMP-Iloilo consists of mayors in 42 towns and the component city of Passi.
