Toyota Motor Philippines closed 2025 with results that highlight its market leadership, a growing electrification mix, and the scale of its local manufacturing and supply footprint. At the same time, the company used its year-opening briefing to outline where it plans to take its lineup next.
A banner year
The company reported combined Toyota and Lexus sales of 229,447 units, equivalent to a 46-percent market share. It also said this was 5.2-percent higher than 2024.
Electrified vehicles took a larger role in the group’s annual sales mix. Toyota and Lexus together posted 19,516 electrified units, up 40 percent year on year, accounting for nine percent of total sales. Cumulative progress was also cited, placing mixed-type EV sales at 44,228 units to date since 2009.
Tamaraw sales were placed at 17,524 units sold to date, re-establishing it as a central nameplate in TMP's story, and reinforcing the model’s role as a work-oriented platform that also reaches private buyers.
In the premium segment, luxury Toyota brand Lexus paired volume with a notably high electrification rate. The brand reported 1,852 units sold and a 52-percent market share in its category. Of that total, 1,692 units were electrified, which the company presented as 91-percent of Lexus sales.
Beyond showroom performance, the figures also show the importance of local production. Local production volume was placed at 63,803 units for 2025, six percent higher than 2024 and a record high since 1989. The company also pointed to the role of models such as the Vios, Tamaraw, and Innova in local output, while highlighting Tamaraw’s suitability for conversion and special-purpose use.

In-house Tamaraw conversions such as ambulance, telco van, race vehicle, drop-side, utility van, and aluminum cargo configurations underline the Tamaraw’s relevance not only to private transport but also to logistics and public-service applications.
Toyota also presented a snapshot of broader economic activity linked to its operations. Network employment, covering the company as well as suppliers, dealers, and subsidiaries, was placed at 83,000 plus. They cited USD 1-billion in export sales from Toyota export suppliers, alongside P43-billion in payments to the government for taxes and duties, P17 billion in procurement from local suppliers, and P3.9 billion in employee wages and benefits.
Plans for 2026
While the numbers reflect 2025 outcomes, the press conference also signaled where the business wants to head next. Toyota described a multi-pathway direction that keeps gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and battery-electric options available to match different customer needs. It also pointed to further hybrid activity ahead, with president, Masando Hashimoto stating that the RAV4 Hybrid and Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid are upcoming for the Philippine market.
For 2026, Toyota identified five models as part of its planned launch lineup: the Urban Cruiser, RAV4, Land Cruiser Hybrid (LC300 HEV), Land Cruiser FJ, and Hilux, with the note that actual units may vary. The inclusion of LC300 HEV places electrification into a flagship SUV nameplate, while the Hilux keeps attention on pickup demand that remains fundamental to the Philippine market. The appearance of the Urban Cruiser and Land Cruiser FJ, meanwhile, indicates added coverage in entry-level crossover and lifestyle-oriented SUV spaces that are aimed at bringing in more excitement in those segments.

This year's challenge
Toyota also addressed the rapid expansion of Chinese automotive brands in the local market, describing the trend as part of a broader market expansion rather than a zero-sum threat. In the Q&A, TMP President Masando Hashimoto said there are now around 13 brands from mainland China operating in the Philippines and placed their combined 2025 sales at more than 48,000 units, close to 10 percent of total industry volume. He said Toyota welcomes the added competition, citing the wider range of choices for customers and the added momentum this brings to the market, while the company continues to strengthen its product lineup and ownership ecosystem in response.
In 2025, Toyota Motor Philippines leaned on volume leadership and a strong local production base. Moving forward, the company is positioning its next phase around a broader electrification mix and a steady flow of new and updated models, while keeping its core commercial and SUV nameplates central to how it competes in a rapidly evolving local market.
