Parañaque LGU tops NCR child immunization coverage at 99%
The city government of Parañaque topped Metro Manila in childhood immunization, posting a 99% coverage rate, according to the Department of Health’s Field Health Services Information System (FHSIS).
Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the DOH FHSIS reported that as of December 2025, the National Capital Region recorded an 83.11% Fully Immunized Children (FIC) rate, with 237,522 of 285,798 infants aged zero to 12 months, completing their routine vaccinations.
Olivarez said that the city led all National Capital Region (NCR) cities, followed by Quezon City, Pasig, Mandaluyong, Makati, and Navotas.
The FHSIS credited high-performing LGUs for strong local health systems, barangay-level awareness campaigns, and sustained engagement with parents and caregivers.
Health officials cited population mobility, vaccine hesitancy, access challenges, and data gaps as factors affecting coverage.
The mayor said that the city continues catch-up immunization drives and intensified barangay campaigns to ensure no child is left unvaccinated.
The DOH said it will strengthen coordination with NCR LGUs in 2026 to boost immunization, noting the urgency amid rising measles-rubella cases and plans to vaccinate over 10 million children nationwide.
