Money lender found dead in Nueva Vizcaya

A money lender was killed and his body dumped in a creek in Barangay Casat, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
Police Major Fernando Bag-ayan Jr., chief of the Bayombong Municipal Police Station, identified the victim as Jay Lopez, of Cauayan City, Isabela, and temporarily staying in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.
Bag-ayan said the victim’s bloodied and nearly unrecognizable body was discovered lying face down at around 7 p.m. by two residents on Sunday, Feb. 1.
Investigators recovered a bloodstained rock in the area that may have been used in the killing.
Investigation said two individuals saw the victim’s tricycle entering the area between 12 noon and 1 p.m. Sunday with a female passenger, followed by a black Rusi motorcycle driven by a man wearing a black jacket, black bonnet, and a hat.
Police said the victim sustained severe head injuries that caused his death.
The victim’s family was shock and confused over his murder.
The victim was engaged in money lending and police are considering this as one of the possible motives for his death.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
