ILOILO CITY—The new municipal hall of Miag-ao, Iloilo formally opened on Monday, Feb. 2, with Iloilo Rep. Janette Loreto-Garin and Mayor Richard Garin leading the inauguration and blessing.
The five-story municipal hall built for P180 million stands behind the original structure constructed in 1985.
P140 million was funded by the national government with Rep. Garin facilitating and the remaining P40 million by the local government unit (LGU) of Miag-ao.
The new municipal hall is powered by 100 watts of solar energy. “This will bring a lot of savings in electricity,” said Mayor Garin.
The incumbent administration honored past leadership and work to bring political unity during the inauguration.
Present were former Mayors Gerardo “Gerry” Flores and Erlinda Britanico, whose administration built the municipal hall more than 40 years ago.
Rep. Garin said it is important to put political differences aside and work together to bring progress to Miag-ao.
