Rains to persist due to shear line as PAGASA continues to monitor cloud cluster outside PAR
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, Feb. 2, said the shear line continues to bring rains over parts of the country, while a cloud cluster outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) remains under monitoring for possible development into a low-pressure area (LPA).
PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said cloudy skies with scattered moderate to, at times, heavy rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected over Visayas, Sorsogon, Masbate, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur due to the shear line.
He added that the rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorm activity.
Meanwhile, Aurelio said the northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” continues to affect large parts of Luzon, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of the Luzon.
He also said PAGASA continues to monitor the cloud cluster outside PAR, which still has a low to medium chance of developing into an LPA in the coming days.
PAGASA data show that one to two tropical cyclones usually develop or enter the PAR in February.
