ARAGONES
CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – The Laguna provincial government will offer free chemotherapy treatments to help patients battling cancer who cannot afford the steep costs starting this April.
Gov. Sol Aragones announced the initiative Monday during her inspection of the new Chemotherapy Center site, adjacent to the Dialysis Center at Laguna Medical Center in Santa Cruz town. Preparations are underway for its grand opening this April.
“For years, families have traveled outside the province or abandoned treatment altogether due to financial hardship. This facility directly addresses that painful reality for our cancer patients,” Aragones said in Filipino.
She highlighted that the project embodies a dedicated, long-term plan for the province’s health advancement.
“Slowly, one by one, we will achieve this too. I won't give up or stop as long as there's a way to save many lives,” she added.
Former Department of Health Undersecretary Dr. Eric Tayag, now the province's health consultant, noted the center can treat up to 40 patients daily. (PNA)
