Bayanihan spirit benefits underprivileged sector in Binangonan, Rizal

Seeing the need to give back to the institution where they once belonged, an alumni association has reached out to the parents and students of a public elementary school in Binangonan, Rizal recently. Their efforts revived the "bayanihan" spirit in the community, of which these former students were once a part.
Several officers and members of the Libis Elementary School Alumni association have rejoined, pooled their resources and tied up with a local drug store and a church organization to come up with a medical mission at Libis Elementary School in Barangay Libis in Binangonan, Rizal, last January.
Angelo “Gelo” Pajarillo of Barangay Libis, who heads the outreach program, said the free medical services—organized in partnership with the Binangonan branch of a generic drugstore—provided medical check-ups, consultations, and medicines to students, parents, and community members, most of whom belong to the underprivileged sector, including some persons with disabilities.

Pajarillo said the activity was made possible through the partnership of Libis Elementary School, the Libis Elementary School Alumni Officers, and Church of God Binangonan, led by Pastor Rommel Zonio.
Alumni association officers attributed the success of the event to Pajarillo’s generous assistance and active involvement in the group, ensuring the smooth flow and overall effectiveness of the medical mission and awareness activities.
His effort also helped bring together different groups involved and enabled the program to reach a wide number of beneficiaries.
The event was further marked by the official turnover of donated items from Pajarillo to Libis Elementary School. Eight CCTV cameras were received by Libis Elementary School Principal Dr. Mark Airon Bolante.
In his message, Dr. Bolante expressed his sincere gratitude to all stakeholders and partners, especially to Pajarillo, for his continued support and commitment to the welfare of the students and the school.
These donated security cameras are expected to significantly enhance the safety and security of the school community.
The villagers of Barangay Linis said the successful outreach event stood as a meaningful example of community unity—combining healthcare service, advocacy for autism awareness, and educational support in a single event that benefited both the school and the wider community.

In his message, Pajarillo highlighted the importance of giving back to the school and its community.
“This event is very close to my heart. Supporting programs that promote health, education, and awareness for children and persons with disabilities is something I truly believe in," he said.
He also underscored the significance of the Autism Awareness Week celebration, adding, “We want to remind everyone that individuals with autism and other disabilities deserve understanding, respect, and equal opportunities. This celebration is about inclusion and compassion.”
