Marcos calls on public to propose policies to solve PH's 'many problems'
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
Stressing that many of the country's policies remain outdated, President Marcos has encouraged the citizenry to suggest policies that would address pressing issues.
Marcos made the call in his recent vlog released on Sunday, Feb. 1, which discussed the popular policies abroad and existing local rules.
"Ang mga polisiya ay kultura na isinusulat bilang batas (Policies are culture written into law)," Marcos said in his seven-minute long vlog.
"Ipaalam ninyo sa amin sa comment section kung may mga mungkahi kayong polisiya na makakatulong solusyonan ang marami nating problema. Aabangan namin ang mga suggestion ninyo (Let us know in the comments section if you have policy proposals that could help address many of our problems. We look forward to your suggestions)," he told the public.
The President acknowledged that many of the country's policies and systems are outdated, and are no longer of help to the ordinary Filipinos.
He said some examples of outdated policies include requiring an ID to apply for an ID, filling out dozens of forms that require the same information, and requiring physical appearance in transactions that can be digital.
Marcos said these policies just cause trouble and burden to the people.
"Dito sa ating bansa, marami pang polisiya ang kailangan natin baguhin at ribisahin. Nakikita natin sa balita at naririnig natin ang mga kababayan natin, ang kanilang mga reklamo (Here in our country, there are still many policies that we need to revise and improve. We see it in the news and hear it from our fellow citizens' complaints)," he said.
"Nakikita natin sa ating mga nakasanayang pamamaraan na pinaglumaan na ng panahon. Tila maliit na bagay pero laking perwisyo sa tao (We see it in the methods we are accustomed to, which have become outdated over time. They may seem like small matters, but they cause great inconvenience to people)," he added.
Marcos stressed that the system should bring comfort to the people, not headaches.
The Chief Executive underscored that policies succeed in other countries because of the cooperation of their citizens.
"Na bagamat hindi popular sa simula ang isang polisiya, kapag binigyan ng pagkakataon maimplementa nang tama, maganda naman ang resulta (Even if a policy is unpopular at first, when given the chance to be implemented properly, it can yield good results)," Marcos said.
He added that policies should drive the people to become better Filipinos.
Marcos said policies are effective when they are clear, enforceable, and truly make everyday life easier for the people—from discipline and public health to service delivery and ease of doing business.
Citing examples from other countries, Marcos noted that discipline-focused policies play a key role in shaping orderly and responsible societies.
He also noted innovative labor and health policies adopted by other countries to boost productivity, reduce burnout, and improve public health.
