A 64-year-old man was arrested after stabbing his wife over an alleged affair in Antipolo City, Rizal, authorities reported on Saturday, Jan. 31.
The Antipolo City Component Police Station (Antipolo CCPS) said the incident occurred in Barangay Cupang on Thursday, Jan. 29.
According to the investigation, the 55-year-old victim, identified as “Berlinda,” was on her way home from work at around 5:20 p.m. when the suspect suddenly appeared from behind and, without any apparent reason, stabbed her in the back.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center for emergency treatment, while the suspect fled in an unknown direction.
Authorities said the incident may have stemmed from allegations that the victim was involved in a romantic relationship with another man.
The incident was promptly reported to authorities, leading to a follow-up operation that resulted in the suspect’s arrest. However, the weapon used in the attack was not recovered.
The suspect is now detained at the Antipolo Custodial Facility and may face charges of frustrated parricide.
