The lawyer of the husband of the late Police Senior Master Sergeant Diane Marie Mollenido, a Taguig resident who was found dead in Pulilan, Bulacan, denied that he was arrested.
Lawyer Cristobal Rimando issued a statement on Feb. 1 to deny that Police Senior Master Sergeant (PSMS) John Mollenido was arrested by the police.
“We hereby clarify that our client, Mr. PSMS John Mollenido, is not under arrest. As of this time, no valid warrant of arrest has been issued by any competent court against him. Reports or statements suggesting that he has been arrested are inaccurate and misleading,” the lawyer said.
After Diane Marie’s body was found, the body of her eight-year-old son, John Ysmael, was found on Jan. 29 in Victoria, Tarlac.
“Our client voluntarily submitted himself and fully cooperated with the authorities in good faith. His appearance was an exercise of transparency and respect for due process and must not be misconstrued as an arrest,” Rimando added.
He said, “We urge the public to refrain from spreading misinformation. Our client continues to enjoy the constitutional presumption of innocence and will address this matter through proper legal channels.”
