During her 81st birthday celebration at Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan, last Jan. 30, Boots took to the dance floor with her family and friends to "(I Had) The Time of My Life," which drew cheers.
"I love dancing. I am blessed with so many things. I hope to dance in 'ASAP' with Charo Santos and Helen Gamboa," said Boots as she laughed during an interview when asked about the things she still wants to do at this point.
Boots continues to embrace new challenges and opportunities; she stars alongside Charo Santos and Barbie Forteza in the upcoming drama film "Until She Remembers," directed by Brillante Mendoza, set to premiere on Feb. 25.
Asked about the gratitude at her age, Boots said, "One, that I woke up this morning. Many people did not, especially many people my age. I have a terrible schedule, but God gave me a surge of adrenaline."
Boost Anson-Roa Rodrigo launches her book 'Grateful' during her 81st birthday celebration in Greenhills on Jan. 30.
Boots expressed deep gratitude for her enduring career in showbiz. Her advice to young dreamers: "Showbiz is a blessing—a place of growth, learning, and incredible challenges. It’s not just glitz and glamour; it demands hard work, discipline, and heart. If you feel called to it, pursue your dream passionately, but always keep your eyes and mind open to the lessons along the way."
Admired for her kindness and grace, Boots has always chosen empathy and understanding. "Wala naman akong tinarayan sa showbiz, but there are a lot of times I get angry. But I never let my anger affect me. Hindi ako nagpatalo. (I’ve never had conflicts with anyone in showbiz, though I’ve often felt angry. However, I never let my anger control or affect me.)”
On her birthday, Boots launched her book, "Grateful," dedicating its proceeds to MOWELFUND (Movie Workers Welfare Foundation, Inc.), where she leads with a spirit of generosity and service.
Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Board Member Nestor Cuartero, co-editor of "Grateful," described the book.
"In a way, it's a tell-all book. She spoke of the stages of her life. It's beautiful. She's very open. There's a part in the book that says things you didn't know about Boots, where she defies her public image," Nestor said.

Nestor cited the kindness of Boots. "Pinaka-outstanding sa kanya is yung kindness. Her kind heart shines. In anything that she does. Bihira sa showbiz yung tulad niya na mabait at tunay. (What stands out about her is her kindness. Her kind heart shines. In anything that she does. It's rare in showbiz to find someone like her who is kind and genuine.)"
Boots dedicates her book to those who have touched her life and to the unwavering support of her fans, whose faith has fueled her journey.
"The fans are an indispensable part of our showbiz family. All of us in the industry are deeply grateful for their support through the years. They, with their constant affection, have inspired me through the years to always summon the best of God's gifts to me."
Boots, born Maria Elisa Cristobal Anson, embarked on her showbiz journey at just 19, stepping into the spotlight as a co-host of the beloved dance program "Dance O' Rama."
At first, Boots hesitated, choosing to focus on her studies and her dream of graduating with honors from the University of the Philippines. But her mother, recognizing her daughter's unique spark, encouraged her to seize the opportunity and take a leap of faith.
Charo Santos and Barbie Forteza, co-stars of Boots Anson-Roa Rodrigo in the upcoming film 'Until She Remembers,' are among the special guests at her celebration.
Boots recalled her mother telling her, "Lots of people are falling all over themselves chasing this kind of dream, and here you are, turning it down twice. Why don't you give it a try?" And that started to change her life.
In 1968, Boots made her film debut in "El Perro Gancho" opposite Eddie Rodriguez, marking the start of a remarkable career. She followed this with "Siete Dolores," and it was her unforgettable role in 1970’s "Wanted: Perfect Mother" that catapulted her into the hearts of audiences nationwide.
Boots mentioned "Wanted" and "Tanikalang Dugo" among her favorite films, in which she won Best Actress awards. In addition to movies, she made time for the theater, no matter how busy she was.
On staying power in showbiz, Boots recalled her father’s timeless advice: "Be nice to everyone, from the executives to the lowly crew."
Boots took a bold step outside of showbiz, serving from 1982 to 1986 at the Philippine embassy in Washington, D.C. as Press Attache, Cultural Officer, and Special Assistant to US Benjamin "Kokoy" Romualdez, showing her willingness to embrace new adventures and serve her country.

In 1993, Boots and her family decided to return to the Philippines. Despite staying in the US for several years, offers for her poured in when she returned.
Boots married Pete Roa on June 5, 1964, after eloping. They had four children: Leah, Jose Raymundo, Cristina, and Ben. Among their children, Cristina was inspired to follow her mom's footsteps, though she chose a career in media. Pete passed on in 2007.
On June 14, 2014, Boots found love anew, marrying lawyer Francisco "King" Rodrigo Jr., 86, a romantic soul who fills her days with poetry and faith. Their engagement in December 2013 marked the beginning of a beautiful new chapter.
During her 81st birthday celebration in Greenhills, Boots received 81 white roses, each one a symbol of answered prayers and the blessings that continue to unfold in her life. She recalled that King came into her life with his white roses, not just once, but on four occasions.
Boots and King's union stands as a radiant example that it is never too late to welcome new beginnings and discover lasting happiness, no matter where you are on life’s journey.
