The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) warned the people that all shellfish and alamang harvested from the coastal waters of Bolinao and Anda in Pangasinan remain positive for paralytic shellfish poison or red tide and are not safe for human consumption.
The advisory issued on Jan. 29 urged residents and stakeholders to refrain from gathering, transporting, or selling these seafood until the warning is officially lifted.
But seafood such as fish, squid, crabs, and shrimps are safe to consume as long as they are fresh, cleaned, and properly washed before cooking.
BFAR continues to monitor affected coastal areas and will provide further updates as conditions change.
Red tide can cause serious health risks if contaminated shellfish are consumed.
