The Dream Concert in Hong Kong, which would showcase K-pop artists, was postponed just a week before the event.
The concert was scheduled to be held Feb. 6 and 7 at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong with K-pop artists EXO-CBX, Taemin, Hwasa, BamBam and The Boyz.
However, on Jan. 31, the Korea Entertainment Producers Association (KEPA), the organizer of the Dream Concert in Hong Kong, announced that its partner, Changsha Tonggu Culture Co., decided to postpone the event unilaterally.
Here is KEPA’s statement:
“First, we deeply regret having to share this unfortunate news with K-pop fans and stakeholders around the world.
“The ‘Dream Concert 2026 in Hong Kong,’ scheduled for February 6 and 7, 2026, hosted by the Korea Entertainment Producers Association and From Entertainment, has been postponed by a unilateral announcement from the Chinese organizer, Changsha Tonggu Culture Co., despite the lack of prior agreement between the association and the Korean organizer.
“The association and From Entertainment have been working hard until the last minute to ensure the concert can proceed as scheduled. They have continuously explored ways to continue the concert as scheduled and have made it clear that they will not abandon the stage under any circumstances.
“However, the local organizer, Changsha Tonggu Culture Co., has unilaterally announced the postponement without prior consultation or sufficient explanation, making it impossible to proceed with the event as scheduled.
“Although this decision was not due to the fault of the Association or the organizer, we deeply regret any confusion and inconvenience caused to the audience, artists, and related parties who have been waiting for the performance.
“The Association and the organizer are currently reviewing procedures to clarify the exact circumstances of this incident and who is responsible. We are also carefully discussing follow-up measures, including contractual and legal review.
“This ‘Dream Concert 2026 in Hong Kong’ was prepared amidst renewed anticipation for cultural exchange between Korea and China. Therefore, this unilateral announcement of postponement by the Changsha Tonggu Culture Co. is being perceived as a decision that runs counter to the goal of expanding cultural exchange.
“The Association believes that the current situation is not unrelated to the complex issues surrounding the overall cultural exchange environment between Korea and China, and we deeply regret this.
“As the Korea Entertainment Producers Association, which has operated the ‘Dream Concert,’ the representative K-pop performance brand for the past 30 years, we will always prioritize responsibility for the audience, artists, and the industry as a whole.
“Once again, we would like to offer our deepest apologies to everyone who has been waiting for the ‘Dream Concert 2026 in Hong Kong.'”
