DHSUD vows to complete stalled mass housing projects

Department of Human of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling has ordered the completion of all stalled housing projects in the past administrations in a bid to hasten the efforts to provide decent homes to informal settlers and low-income earners.
Currently, Aliling said the priority are the three housing projects in Caloocan City that are composed of 35 low-rise buildings and are expected to benefit around 5,000 families.
“This is aimed at ending more than a decade of wait by the beneficiaries, and avoid further deterioration of the housing projects,” said Aliling.
Aliling said he already instructed Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) President Federico Laxa to hasten the completion and improvement of the three housing projects and all other stalled projects.
The two projects in Barangay Bagumbong were approved in 2014 and 2015, while the Barangay Camarin project was approved in 2014.
“All the intended beneficiaries already waited for so long, let’s just finish all of these and turn them over to them in the soonest possible time,” said Aliling.
Aliling and Laxa led the inspection of the Alyansang Mamamayan ng Caloocan Housing Cooperative and the HopeVille Phase 2 Homeowners Association Inc. both in Barangay Bagumbong, and the Genesis Ville HOA Inc. in Barangay Camarin.
Based on the inspection conducted, the project sites and housing units were found to be in need of refurbishing because of prolonged stoppage of work due to various reasons.
Aliling vowed full support to SHFC to work on the completion and improvement of the projects.
