'Bon Appétit, Your Majesty,' 'Marry My Husband,' 'Severance' to receive 2026 Visionary award
Korean entertainment CJ ENM selected people who were part of its six shows as recipients of the 2026 Visionary award.
The 2026 Visionary evaluated CJ ENM’s IPs in 2025, including television, film, music, and OTT platforms.
These were initially assessed based on commercial performance, platform contribution, and public recognition.
After this, 20 members of the CJ ENM Selection Committee conducted in-depth reviews to determine the final recipients, focusing on IP sustainability and character impact.
The recipients of the award are the key characters and character builders behind CJ ENM titles “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty,” “Boys II Planet,” “Marry My Husband” (Korean and Japanese versions),” “Our Unwritten Seoul,” and “Study Group.”
“Bon Appétit, Your Majesty,” starring Yoona and Lee Chae-min, became a hit in 2025 and placed first on Netflix’s global top 10 non-English TV shows list. Director Jang Tae Yoo is named a recipient of 2026 Visionary for showcasing Korean flavors that captivated audiences in different countries.
“Boys II Planet” was an audition program on CJ ENM’s global K-pop content platform Mnet Plus, which gave birth to K-pop boy band Alpha Drive One. The show’s producer, Kim Shin Young, will receive the 2026 Visionary award for the show.
“Severance,” produced by CJ ENM’s global studio, Fifth Season, earned a record 27 nominations at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, the most for a single title, and won eight awards, including best actress. Adam Scott’s portrayal of Mark Scout anchored the series’ complex narrative and producer Nicholas Weinstock drove record-breaking viewership on Apple TV.
“Marry My Husband,” released in Korea and Japan, demonstrated the global scalability of K-IP alongside CJ ENM’s refined localization capabilities. Upon its release, the Japanese version garnered record-breaking viewership over its first month, becoming the most-watched Amazon Original drama in Japan.
Takeru Satoh reinterpreted revenge as a forward-looking narrative through Suzuki Wataru, while actress Park Min Young’s character set a new benchmark for K-revenge storytelling. Producer Son Jay of Studio Dragon has been named a Visionary for the drama.
“Our Unwritten Seoul” was selected by TIME magazine as one of the “10 Best K-Dramas of 2025.” Writer Lee Kang is named the 2026 Visionary for creating another work marked by resonant dialogue and emotional depth.
“Study Group,” a TVING Original, bagged best original production by a streamer (Fiction) at the 2025 Asian Academy Creative Awards. Hwang Min Hyun delivered a breakout performance while director Lee Jang Hoon emerged as the Visionary recipient.
“Throughout 2025, CJ ENM continued to explore new creative frontiers across television, music, platforms, and global content, captivating audiences worldwide with our distinctive characters and stories. As a global IP powerhouse, we will continue to introduce IPs loved by audiences around the world and present a future vision for a sustainable K-content industry,” said a CJ ENM representative.
The 2026 Visionary award recipients will be invited to CJ ENM’s The Visionary Awards to be held on Feb. 10 at the CJ ENM Center in Seoul.
