'Huwag ninyong subukang magbigay ng maling report (Do not dare to submit false report)."
This was the warning issued by President Marcos to officials as he ordered the monitoring of infrastructure projects every two weeks.
Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro disclosed on Friday, Jan. 30, that the President made the directive and warning in one of his meetings with Cabinet officials.
Huwag ninyong subukang magbigay ng maling report (President Marcos Jr. also ordered the monitoring of agencies and their projects every two weeks to see their progress. Do not try to submit a false report)," Castro said in a Palace briefing.
The President specifically ordered the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to expedite the construction of infrastructure projects, especially school buildings.
According to Castro, Marcos said he does not want to receive reports that are falsified and inaccurate just to fulfill giving reports every two weeks.
So, ayaw po ng Pangulo ng maling report (He said that if there is a report, he does not want it to be falsified or made to look good simply because there will be monitoring every two weeks. In short, the President does not want false reports)," Castro, who was present during the meeting, said.
Castro also said that they will be coming up with a mechanism to ensure that the submitted reports are accurate to prevent a repeat of the falsified progress reports on incomplete and non-existent infrastructure projects.
That will be conducted because it was just discussed and that is what the President wants moving forward and it should not just be about moving forward; the reporting of each agency with projects must improve—that is what the President wants)," Castro said.
The Palace official also said that if an intentional false report was submitted to the President, it carries a corresponding penalty, or worse removal from their positions.
Well, that depends: was it done in good faith, was it negligence, or was it intentional? So definitely, if it was intentional, it carries a corresponding penalty—they could be removed from their positions)," Castro said when asked what the consequences are in submitting false report.
Hangga’t maaari, pagbutihin ang trabaho para sa bayan (If it was negligence, the same thing would happen, because as public servants, there is no room for negligence. As much as possible, do your work well for the country)," Castro added.
