PNP vows justice for slain policewoman in Bulacan

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Friday, Jan. 30, that it will provide full assistance to the family of a policewoman found dead in Bulacan as the search for her killer intensifies.
Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., PNP Chief, ordered investigators to leave no stone unturned in identifying those responsible for the death of Police Senior Master Sergeant Diane Marie Mollenido, 38.
“Strong words of condemnation are not enough for what they did to one of our own. We will not let this pass and we will hold accountable all those involved,” Nartatez said.
The PNP said it is extending financial assistance, security protection, as well as counselling if needed, to the bereaved family of Mollenido as they grieve her and her son's passing.
Mollenido’s body was discovered in a creek along the Pulilan-Baliuag Bypass Road in Barangay Dulong Malabon on Jan. 24, five days after she was reported missing with her son. According to the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), she had a gunshot wound to the head.
On Jan. 29, police recovered the body of her eight-year-old son in a calamansi farm in Barangay Maluid, Victoria, Tarlac. Autopsy results showed he died of asphyxia by suffocation.
Nartatez said the search for the suspect behind the gruesome killings zeroed in on a car agent tagged as a person of interest in the case.
Accordingly, Mollenido met with the car agent as the victim was supposedly selling her car.
Authorities discovered traces believed to be blood inside the residence of the car agent in Quezon City during a forensic examination.
“We will get to the bottom of this case, and we will make sure that justice is served,” he said.
