The city government of Parañaque conducted a two-day livelihood training for the parents of Special Needs Education (SNED) beneficiaries on Jan. 28 and 29 in line with the observance of National Autism Awareness Week.
Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the activity, organized by the Parañaque Livelihood Resource Management Office, was held at F. Serrano Elementary School.
The training included a perfume-making workshop on Jan. 28, followed by a dishwashing liquid-making session on Jan. 29.
Olivarez explained that the initiative aimed to equip parents with new knowledge and practical skills which may serve as additional livelihood to support their families, particularly children with special needs.
He added that the program also highlighted the importance of empowering parents of children on the autism spectrum through sustainable and income-generating initiatives that promote self-reliance and economic stability.
Through livelihood skills training and inclusive community programs, the local government of Parañaque continues to demonstrate its support, understanding, and concern for children with autism and their families, while advancing inclusivity and community empowerment.
