The National Bureau of Investigation on Friday assured assistance to an 18-year-old woman from Olongapo City over the death threats she received from alleged security officials of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority.
JP, accompanied by her mother and legal counsel Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption Chairman Emeritus lawyer Manny Obedoza, revealed her predicament to acting National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Lito Magno during a meeting at the NBI headquarters in Pasay City.
The victim said she was kidnapped by the suspects to extort a large sum of money from a Taiwanese businessman in Subic by filing a rape complaint against him.
She said the threats began after she denied in court that was raped. The case was dismissed.
The NBI assured JP, who has also sought assistance from Malacañang, of protection under the Witness Protection program.
The meeting was aired online.
