National Historical Commission stops Muntinlupa-San Pedro bridge construction
The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) has ordered the temporary postponement of the construction of the new Muntinlupa-San Pedro, Laguna bridge until a clearance is secured.
“The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) has instructed the temporary postponement of the construction of the new Tunasan–San Pedro Bridge, which was originally scheduled to commence on February 1, 2026 (Sunday),” the San Pedro City government announced on Jan. 30.
The construction of the new bridge, located along the National Highway at the boundary of Muntinlupa and San Pedro, is scheduled to start on Feb. 1.
“The directive was issued to allow the project proponent to first secure the necessary clearance from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), in compliance with existing regulations. Further updates will be provided once the required clearance has been obtained and a new schedule for the project is confirmed,” the city government added.
Boundary markers are installed at the bridge.
The construction of the new bridge will be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region and a private contractor.
The Muntinlupa and San Pedro local governments earlier said a new traffic scheme will be implemented starting Feb. 1.
