Ruffa Gutierrez proud of Lorin's graduation, open to daughter joining pageantry

Actress Ruffa Gutierrez could not hide her excitement as she revealed that her eldest daughter, Lorin, is set to graduate this May from Pepperdine University's advertising and integrated marketing program in California.

"Si Lorin po ay graduating na sa May 1 and 2. Mayroon siyang commencement exercises sa LA (Los Angeles) kaya pupunta ako doon. (Lorin is graduating on May 1 and 2. She will have her commencement exercises in Los Angeles, so I will be going there.)," Ruffa revealed in an impromptu interview during the 4th year Thanksgiving party of the Luxe Beauty and Wellness Group at The Blue Leaf Cavite.
"Happy na happy ako kasi talagang graduating na siya at meron na akong isang magtatapos," she said of her eldest daughter Lorin. "So, bilang ina, talagang tuwang-tuwa ko at isa na lang ang papag-aralin ko. Si Venice na lang (who is taking up political science. (I’m very, very happy because she’s really graduating, and I already have one child finishing her studies. As a mom, I’m really happy. Now, I only have one left to support in school, and that's Venice)," she added.
Ruffa failed to state whether her ex-husband, Yilmaz Bektas, will attend Lorin's graduation. "Surprise na lang (it's a surprise)," she said.
When asked if Lorin is open to joining pageantry now that she's 22, Ruffa did not close the door on the idea. "Tingnan natin kasi pagkatapos nya ma graduate pupunta sya dito sa Pilipinas (Let’s see, because after she graduates, she will come to the Philippines)."
The celebrity mom of two declared that she has always given her daughters free rein to make their own decisions. She cited their college coursesas an example. "Sila ang may gusto nyan, sila talaga ang dapat pumili. (They're the ones who want that, so they're the ones who should really choose.)"

Ruffa also shared updates about her father, veteran actor Eddie Gutierrez, who has recently been recovering from health concerns.
“My dad is feeling so much better. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng nagdasal para sa kanya.Talagang prayers really work. (Thank you to all those who prayed for him. Prayers really work)," she also said.
Ruffa revealed that their family recently spent nine days in Singapore for Eddie’s medical treatments and plans to return in April for further therapy and rehabilitation.
At 83, Eddie’s condition has prompted Ruffa to be more intentional about spending time with her parents.
“What I really want this year is to spend more time, not only with my dad, but with my mom as well,” she said.

Asked about the state of her heart, especially with Valentine's Day fast approaching, Ruffa said she has, unfortunately, no time for a love life. "Tama na yung inspirasyon. Tawag-tawag, text-text. (Being inspired is enough, with calls and texts.)"
Instead, she has been focusing on family and supporting close friends like Luxe Skin CEO Anna Magkawas.
“Mahal na mahal ko si Miss Anna. Nakita naman natin ang dedication and ang kanyang perseverance para maging successful sa kanyang business. So, I really admire her, and she's an inspiration to me. (I really love Miss Anna. We can really see her dedication and perseverance to succeed in her business)," she said.
Ruffa also addressed breakup rumors about her brother, Richard Gutierrez, and actress Barbie Imperial, describing their relationship as harmonious.
“Okay naman sila. Barbie is very nice to me. She cooks really well. I'm glad that she's the new leading lady of Richard (in the Kapamilya action-drama series 'Blood vs Duty',” Ruffa shared.
