Malacañang bared that President Marcos does not yet have a legal team handling the impeachment complaints filed against him at the House of Representatives.
When asked if the President has formed a legal team for the impeachment complaints against him, Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said it has not been discussed yet.
"Wala po, wala pa po. Hindi pa po napag-uusapan iyon (None so far. That matter has not been discussed yet)," Castro said in a Palace briefing on Thursday, Jan. 29.
Castro, however, said that the President is aware of the process and he will simply follow it.
"Natanong ko po siya kagabi pero ang sabi lang po sa atin ng Pangulo ay alam niya ang po ang proseso at susunod lamang siya sa proseso. Ganoon lang po (I asked him about it last night, but the President only said that he is aware of the process and will comply with it. That’s all)," Castro said.
On Monday, Jan. 26, the House referred to the Committee on Justice the two verified and endorsed impeachment complaints filed against Marcos.
The House Committee on Justice will begin deliberations on the two referred impeachment complaints against the President next Monday, Feb. 2.
