Records that could be broken at the 68th Grammy Awards
The 68th Grammy Awards will be held on Feb. 1 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles with Trevor Noah as host.
VegasInsider.com has collected a list of records that could be broken at the 2026 ceremony.
Lamar could break Jay-Z’s record (25 awards) and become the most awarded rapper of all time at the Grammys. He could also tie Michael Jackson & Santana’s record for the most Grammys won in one night (current record: eight awards).
Lady Gaga could break Adele & Beyoncé’s record for the most Grammys won in one night by a female artist (current record: six wins), Bruno Mars (nominated for “APT.”) could become the first artist to ever win four times in the Record of the Year category.
Records that could be broken at the 68th Grammy Awards:
OVERALL RECORDS
Kendrick Lamar could break Jay-Z’s record and become the most awarded rapper of all time at the Grammys - as of now, Jay-Z has won 25 Grammys while Lamar has won 22 Grammys, but he is nominated for nine more awards in 2026, so by winning four or more Grammys, he would break Jay-Z’s record.
Kendrick Lamar could tie Michael Jackson & Santana’s record for the most Grammys won in one night - Jackson won 8 awards at the 1984 Grammys, Santana won 8 awards at the 2000 Grammys and Lamar is nominated for nine awards at the 2026 ceremony (however, two of those nominations are in the same category, meaning Lamar can win a maximum of eight awards unless there is an unprecedented tie in that category).
Lady Gaga could break Adele & Beyoncé’s record for the most Grammys won in one night by a female artist. Both Adele & Beyoncé managed to win six awards in one night and Gaga is nominated for seven Grammys at the 2026 ceremony.
Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter or Lady Gaga have a chance to join eight other artists who managed to win Record, Song & Album of the Year Grammys in one evening.
Jack Antonoff could join Christopher Cross, Billie Eilish & Adele and become only the fourth individual to win all four major categories at the Grammys. He won in the Best New Artist category as a member of the group Fun, he won Song of the Year for co-writing Fun’s “We Are Young”, he won Album of the Year three times for co-producing Taylor Swift’s “1989”, “folklore” & “Midnights” and he has two chances to win Record of the Year at the 2026 Grammys for co-producing Kendrick Lamar & SZA’s “Luther” and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild.”
GENERAL FIELD CATEGORIES
RECORD OF THE YEAR
Bad Bunny’s “DTMF” could become the first Spanish song to win in the Record of the Year category and only the second foreign language song to win since 1959’s “Nel blu, dipinto di blu (Volare)" (in Italian)
Bruno Mars (nominated for “APT.”) could become the first artist to ever win four times in the Record of the Year category (he previously won for “Uptown Funk”, “24K Magic” & “Leave The Door Open”)

Kendrick Lamar (nominated for “GNX”) or Tyler, the Creator (nominated for “Chromakopia”) could become the first solo male rapper to win in the Album of the Year category
SONG OF THE YEAR
Billie Eilish & Finneas (nominated for “WILDFLOWER”) or Bruno Mars & Brody Brown (nominated for “APT.”) could become the first songwriters to ever win three times in the Song of the Year category. A total of 14 songwriters have won two Song of the Year trophies, but nobody has managed to win three times (Mars & Brown previously won for “That’s What I Like” & “Leave The Door Open” while Eilish & Finneas won for “bad guy” & “What Was I Made For”)
Kendrick Lamar (nominated for “Luther”) could become only the second songwriter to win in the Song of the Year category in two consecutive years (the first one to do so was D’Mile) and the first rapper to win twice - Lamar won last year for “Not Like Us”
Bad Bunny’s “DTMF” could become the first Spanish song to win in the Song of the Year category and only the second foreign language song to win since 1959’s “Nel blu, dipinto di blu (Volare)" (in Italian)
Doechii (nominated for “Anxiety”) could become the first female rapper to win in the Song of the Year category
Rosé (nominated for “APT.”) could become the first K-Pop act to win in the Song of the Year category
“APT.” or “Luther” could break the record for the most writers on a song winning Song of the Year. The current record is held by Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like” which had eight co-writers but “APT.” has nine co-writers while “Luther” has 10 co-writers. “DTMF,” which has eight co-writers, could tie the record
BEST NEW ARTIST
Olivia Dean, Addison Rae or Lola Young could continue an ongoing record streak of solo female artists winning in the Best New Artist category. A solo female artist has won every time in the past eight years, starting with Alessia Cara in 2018, so either of them winning in 2026 would be the ninth year of a solo female artist winning

BEST POP VOCAL ALBUM
Lady Gaga (nominated for “Mayhem”) or Sabrina Carpenter (nominated for “Man’s Best Friend”) could tie the record for the most wins in the Best Pop Vocal Album category if either of them wins their second award in the category. The record is currently held jointly by Taylor Swift, Adele & Kelly Clarkson.
Sabrina Carpenter (nominated for “Man’s Best Friend”) could become the first artist to ever win in the Best Pop Vocal Album category in consecutive years - she won last year for “Short ‘n Sweet.”
