Mayor Joy receives 'Gawad Lingkod Bayan ng Pangulo' award
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and City Administrator Michael Victor Alimurung were recognized during the "Pagpupugay 2025: Parangal sa mga Lingkod Bayani” held at Malacañang Palace on Wednesday, Jan. 28, for their dedication to public service within their jurisdictions.
Mayor Belmonte was named as one of the recipients of the Gawad Lingkod Bayani Awards, formerly known as the Search for Outstanding Government Workers.
It is one of the highest honors given by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for outstanding public servants in the country.
Malacañang cited the local chief executive’s message of inclusivity as truthful and felt among the citizens she serves.
According to the city government, QC served as a “working laboratory” of best practices in digital governance, transparency in procurement, strong disasted preparedness and overall inclusive public service and urban planning which resulted in multiple sustainable projects.
Meanwhile, City Administrator (CA) Alimurung was recognized as one of the Gawad Pagasa National Winners of the CSC.
These awards are given to individuals or group who have proven to perform their duty and promote innovation and progress within the sector or department they serve.
Under Alimurung’s leadership, Quezon City pioneered the effective use of digital transformation such as the implementation of the e-Services of the city ensuring a fast and easy process of applying for services like the Pangkabuhayang QC, Social Welfare Assistance, Scholarship Program, and more.
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto bestowed the award to Mayor Belmonte and CA Alimurung on behalf of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
