TANAUAN CITY, Batangas – A laborer was killed and his co-worker was injured after a wall collapsed in a construction site in Barangay Poblacion 4 here Tuesday afternoon.
Police identified the victim as Manuel Corañes and the injured as Richard Corañes.
The wall collapsed due to strong winds and they were buried under the debris.
They were retrieved by colleagues and taken to a hospital where Manuel was declared dead and Richard recovering from head injuries.
Laguna shooting
ALAMINOS, Laguna – A 49-year-old man was shot dead Tuesday afternoon in Barangay San Andres here.
The victim Michael, 49, was driving a motorcycle when the suspect appeared and shot him in the head.
The suspect fled and the victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Police found three fired 9mm cartridge cases and four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu in the crime scene.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
Bus kills village dad
The victim Nestor was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Nestor was bumped by an RMB Bus Liner with license plates DBI-7813 driven by Gemilo, 66, while crossing the road.
Meanwhile, a 75-year-old electrician was apprehended for rape on Wednesday in Bauan, Batangas.
Police said the suspect Kiko, single, listed as a regional most wanted person in the Calabarzon region, was arrested on a warrant dated Jan. 27, 2026, for rape issued by a family court in Batangas City. No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.
He is in the custody of the Bauan Municipal Police Station.
