Woman dies after being hit by car while crossing pedestrian lane in Rizal

A woman died after being hit by a car while crossing a pedestrian lane on her way home in Cainta, Rizal on Sunday evening, Jan. 25.
The Cainta Municipal Police Station (Cainta MPS) said the incident occurred along Casimiro A. Ynares Sr. Boulevard, in front of Kingstore, in Barangay San Andres, at around 7:40 p.m.
Based on the investigation, the victim was crossing Casimiro A. Ynares Sr. Boulevard at a designated pedestrian lane while on her way home to Block 10 from Riverside.
Upon reaching the center island dividing both lanes, the victim reportedly stopped to wait for an opening. However, an unidentified suspect vehicle suddenly struck her.
Police said the suspect vehicle was traveling from Pasig toward Taytay.
Due to the impact, the victim was thrown into the westbound lane and sustained serious physical injuries.
The Barangay San Andres ambulance rushed the victim to One Cainta Hospital for medical treatment, but she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Authorities are conducting an operation to identify and locate the suspect, who immediately fled the scene after the incident.
The suspect will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
