BACOLOD CITY – A Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) has been formed on the killing of a barangay councilor in Murcia, Negros Occidental.
Police Capt. Honey Labaro, Murcia police chief, said that the SITG will convene on Wednesday, Jan. 28, to discuss the progress of the investigation.
The 59-year-old victim had just alighted from a car when an unidentified person shot him in the head on Monday, Jan. 26.
Meanwhile, the skeletal remains of a 59-year-old man were found by a worker in a sugarcane field in Sitio Simboryo, Barangay Bulad, Isabela, Negros Occidental on Sunday, Jan. 25, more than two months after he was reported missing during the onslaught of typhoon ‘’Tino’’ last November.
The victim was positively identified by his younger brother through his clothes.
The victim was swept away by a flash flood on Nov. 4 while tending to his carabao in a sugarcane plantation in Hacienda Pilar, Barangay Crossing Magallon, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.
The victim’s remains have been claimed by his family.
