A security manager was arrested after allegedly robbing a company nurse of his gold necklace inside a casino in Pasay City on Jan. 26.
Pasay City Police chief Col. Joselito De Sesto identified the suspect as Ver, 44, a resident of Quezon City.
Police said the incident occurred at around 10:35 p.m. inside a comfort room on the ground floor of the Garden Wing Casino on Newport Boulevard in Barangay 183, Villamor, Pasay City.
The victim, identified as Rey, 67, a resident of Imus, Cavite, claimed he had just entered the comfort room when the suspect followed him and covered his face with a cloth emitting a strong odor that caused dizziness.
Despite his condition, the victim resisted and called for help but was repeatedly punched, his head slammed, and dragged into a cubicle.
Ver allegedly snatched the victim's 18-karat gold necklace with pendant valued at ₱200,000 before assaulting him again.
An alert casino casino security guard apprehended the suspect and turned him over to Pasay City Police Substation 9 in Villamor.
Recovered from Ver were a pepper spray and the stolen necklace.
Ver is now detained at the Pasay City Police custodial facility and faces charges of robbery with violence against persons.
