It took some time but the wait was all worth it.
All the struggles and sacrifices have finally paid off for Aurora Gaming roamer Dylan “Light” Catipon as not only he led his team to the title in the M7 World Championship but also bagged the Finals MVP plum.
Light was a key cog to Aurora’s 4-0 sweep of Indonesia’s Alter Ego, finding the crucial sets, particularly on the Grock and Chou picks.
Joining Aurora at the start of the MPL Philippines Season 16 after getting cut from his former team in Indonesia BTR, Light worked all throughout the year before it finally paid dividends by raising the M-series trophy.
“This means a lot to me because these past few days the only (time) I can rest is when I get sleep but when I am awake I’m doing all my best reviewing all the enemy’s games,” said an emotional Light after receiving the Finals MVP trophy.
“Finally I got the championship with these guys. They deserve it, we deserve it for all the hard work,” he added.
Light is the first roamer to win the Finals MVP plum in the world championship though he has joined an elite cast that featured other Filipino stars in Karl “Kartzy” Nepomuceno, Kiel “Oheb” Soriano, Benedict “BennyQT” Gonzales, Charles David “Flaptzy” Canon, and Duane “Kelra” Pillas.
With the win, Light, along with Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto are now two of the few players who have won it in all levels of MLBB Esports. The two also won the MSC crown in 2022 back when they were still part of RSG Philippines.
“I’ve been chasing it since Season 9 and then I got it in Season 16, right? Tapos sobrang daming learnings and challenges,” said Light .
“There are times na parang I believe na I couldn’t make it to the world stage anymore since I’m getting older. But with hard work, discipline, and sacrifices, I still believe that everything is possible,” he stressed.
