- The Hongqi vehicles that took part in the Department of Energy (DOE) Fuel Eco Run event were the dual-motor All Wheel Drive variants, the EHS7 Flagship midsize SUV, EH7 Flagship midsize sedan AWD, and the EHS9 Flagship full size SUV.
- The EHS7 achieved 47.79 kilometers (km) / per Liter of gasoline equivalent (Lge), EH7 Flagship AWD midsized sedan achieved 51.16 km/Lge, and the EHS9 Flagship AWD full sized SUV –achieved 40.57 km/Lge.
Hongqi Philippines shared its results from the Department of Energy (DOE) Eco Run held in the latter part of 2025. The eco run spanned a 154.5 kilometer stretch from Tarlac through Pangasinan to La Union via the Tarlac–Pangasinan–La Union Expressway (TPLEX). The goal was to generate real world energy efficiency data featuring a mix of internal combustion vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and battery electric vehicles under actual highway driving conditions.
The Hongqi vehicles that took part in the event were their high-powered, dual-motor All Wheel Drive variants, the EHS7 Flagship midsize SUV AWD, EH7 Flagship midsize sedan AWD, both putting out 610-hp with 756-Nm of torque, the EHS9 Flagship full size SUV AWD that puts out 544-hp with 750-Nm of torque, these vehicles featured the highest horsepower and torque output among the vehicles in the run.
During the eco run, vehicles were driven as they normally would be on the highway, overtaking slower traffic at 100 kph and cruising at 80 kph. Hongqi vehicles delivered exceptional results reinforcing the brand’s balanced approach to performance and efficiency.
The results are as follows: the EHS7 Flagship AWD midsize SUV – 47.79 kilometers (km) / per Liter of gasoline equivalent (Lge), EH7 Flagship AWD midsized sedan – 51.16 km/Lge and the EHS9 Flagship AWD full sized SUV – 40.57 km/Lge. The results returned are impressive, given the vehicle speccifications.
While Hongqi’s RWD variants did not take part in the DOE Eco Run, the brand shares their own city-driving efficiency results. The EHS7 Executive SUV recorded 61.4 km/Lge, while the EH7 Executive sedan achieved an even higher 63.5 km/Lge. Both RWD variants put out 339-hp with 450-Nm of torque, showing that with a single motor drivetrain, they can achieve both performance and high energy efficiency.
“The DOE Eco Run results reaffirm Hongqi’s commitment to delivering electric vehicles that combine exceptional performance with real-world efficiency,” said Rashid Delgado, President of Hongqi Philippines. “Hongqi’s BEVs demonstrate that high performance and efficiency can go hand in hand. From our dual-motor AWD models to single-motor RWD vehicles, each achieves strong power and notable energy efficiency, reflecting our commitment to engineering excellence and a refined driving experience across the entire lineup.”
