At the Star Magic Spotlight Presscon held at Coffee Project in Quezon City last Jan. 26, Christof opened up about the vulnerability he felt while writing "Take Care," a track from his first EP under Star Music.
"It was a love life-related, very special person in my life who had to leave, although it was temporary, but this was happening when everything was opening up after the pandemic.
"I got used to us being together, nung pandemic parang kaming dalawa lang nagiikot sa village, until nagbukas na lahat, she had to leave for school, and then suddenly I was just left alone. Doon ka naramdaman yung times are changing pero mas importante nag-adapt ako sa changing during that time (I got used to us being together. During the pandemic, it was like just the two of us going around the village, until everything opened up, she had to leave for school, and then suddenly I was just left alone. That's where you felt the times were changing, but more importantly, I adapted to the changes during that time)," he said.
When asked if his parents knew about this special someone, Christof didn’t hesitate to answer honestly.
"Yes, they know naman, hindi ko naman siya tinatago from them (Yes, they know, I'm not hiding him from them)," he said.
Despite the uncertainty he faced, Christof eventually found his safe space in music.
"It wasn’t first nature to me, ‘yung song writing, but over time, I’m very grateful because it also helped me unleash all of my emotions. When I sing rock, it almost comes second nature to me, it’s very fun… hindi ka niya kino-confine into a box (It wasn't first nature to me, song writing, but over time, I'm very grateful because it also helped me unleash all of my emotions. When I sing rock, it almost comes second nature to me, it's very fun... it doesn't confine me into a box)," Christof shared.
He also thanked his parents for allowing him to chart his own path. While they encouraged him to focus on his education, he emphasized that they never pressured him to pursue acting as they did.
"They always wanted me to venture into my own little things. Pinapaalala lang nila sa’kin is to be humble, remain grateful for what you have, paa sa lupa mata sa langit. They’re very supportive naman (They always wanted me to venture into my own little things. They just remind me to be humble, remain grateful for what you have, feet on the ground, eyes on the sky. They’re very supportive)” he shared.
As he pursues a career in music, Christof was asked if he would be open to working on a project with his parents.
"Titingnan natin jan is yung timing, again as of now. I don't see myself doing much acting right now, but my mind is definitely set on it in the future, and I want to establish muna my name in this craft. But yeah, that sounds like something fun to do. What an honor, masampal ka ni Gladys Reyes sa muka (Let's look at the timing again, as of now). I don't see myself doing much acting at this stage, but my mind is definitely set on it for the future, and I want to establish my name in this craft first. But yeah, that sounds somewhat fun to do. What an honor, to have Gladys Reyes slap you in the face)," Christof added.
