The throwback scene between Alfred Vargas and Diana Zubiri in Encantadia, which aired in 2005 on GMA, was met with widespread positive reactions.

Their popular loveteam started out on GMA as DanAquil in the fantasy series. Alfred played the character of Aquil, the commander of the Lirean army, while the character of Danaya was played by Diana, one of the four Sang’gres.
Later, DanAquil's pairing followed in Etheria: Ang Ikalimang Kaharian ng Encantadia in 2005-2006. And it continued in the final chapter of the original Encantadia saga in 2006, Encantadia: Pag-ibig hanggang wakas.
Due to the success of the loveteam of Alfred and Diana, they were given another project from GMA. The two showed off their acting skills, but rather their hosting skills, in Ang Pagbabago, a reality show on July 10, 2006.
They also made a movie in 2006, I Wanna Be Happy, a comedy starring Eddie Garcia and Gloria Romero, directed by Jose Javier Reyes for Seiko Films. They also worked together in Liberated (2003), directed by Mac Alejandre.
They did not work together again in the 2016 Encantadia sequel, where Diana played LilaSari and later Alfred played Amarro. This is the same character that Alfred played in Encantadia's second chapter, Etheria: Ang Ika-Limang Kaharian ng Encantadia.
Later, Rocco Nacino and Sanya Lopez played the characters Aquil and Danaya.
The original Aquil (Alfred) died in the first season's finale. And then Alfred was included in Etheria to play the character Amarro, Aquil's kind father, who is half-Hathor and half-Diwata.
Alfred's inclusion in Encantadia marked his return to GMA-7. In 2011, Alfred returned to his original home, ABS-CBN, where he starred in many teleseryes and later focused on a political career.
Alfred was the seventh original cast member to be included in the latest version of Encantadia.
In Aquil, I love you!—Danaya video, it is said to be one of the favorite scenes of netizens. Many were thrilled and really praised their loveteam. Some of the netizens' comments:

Alfred was happy that netizens appreciated his and Diana's tandem.

“Maganda ang naging working relationship namin ni Diana, at we remain friends until now. Hope makagawa uli kami ng movie o series. (Diana and I have a good working relationship, and we remain friends until now. Hope we can make a movie or series again)," Alfred said.
