BACOLOD CITY – Three fishermen from Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental were rescued by a Singaporean-flagged bulk carrier in the sea of Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte on Sunday, Jan. 25.
The Philippine Coast Guard District Western Visayas said the fishermen were adrift at sea for two days and one night after their fishing boat, MB Princess Henna, sank.
They were taken to the Coast Guard Station Northern Negros Occidental for a medical checkup and turnover to their families.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
Commander Jan Terazona, CGDWV deputy commander, and Ensign El John Ga, deputy station commander for administration of Coast Guard Station Iloilo, commended MV Maud for rescuing the distressed fishermen.
