QCPD launches audio crime prevention tips under Oplan 'Bandillo'
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Saturday, Jan. 24 rolled out its first-ever audio-recorded crime prevention reminders at SM North Edsa.
Using the mall’s public address system to reach shoppers as part of Oplan “Bandillo.”
The initiative was led by Project 6 Police Station 15 under the leadership of Station Commander PLTCOL Dave Anthony Capurcos and implemented by personnel from the station’s Community Affairs and Development Section (SCADS) alongside beat patrollers.
Designed to educate mall-goers and help prevent common criminal modus operandi, the audio safety tips advise the public to secure personal belongings, carry only necessary cash, remain alert in crowded areas, and promptly report concerns through E911 or the QC Helpline 122.
Following coordination with the mall management, the recorded reminders are set to air daily during peak shopping hours at 12:00 noon, 3:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m., integrating public safety messaging into the mall’s regular announcements.
“This initiative demonstrates the QCPD’s commitment to proactive crime prevention and community engagement. Together with our QCitizens, we aim to make Quezon City safer for everyone,” said QCPD Director PCOL Randy Glenn Silvio.
The program marks a new approach by the QCPD to extend crime prevention efforts beyond traditional patrols, leveraging public spaces and partnerships to reach a wider audience.
