Senator Risa Hontiveros will take over the Senate Committee on Electoral Reforms and People’s Participation, Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said.
Lacson, who chairs the committee, said he will give the panel to Hontiveros since he needs to focus on the investigation into the anomalies on flood control projects.
“I will relinquish the panel to Sen. Risa because my schedule on the flood control probe is full,” Lacson told reporters in an interview.
Currently, Lacson heads the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee which is investigating the controversial flood control projects in the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
He also heads the Committee on Electoral Reforms and the Committee on Accounts.
Asked if Hontiveros is willing to accept the committee chairmanship, Lacson said yes.
“Amenable naman si Sen. Risa to chair it,” he said.
The electoral reforms committee will hear the pending bills seeking to amend the party-list system in the country and the anti-political dynasty bill.
The public hearing on the two measures has been set on Wednesday, January 28.
The hearing will be heard jointly with the Senate Committee on Constitutional Amendments and Revision of Codes which is chaired by Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.
