Aboitiz InfraCapital hits 16-million passengers, solidifying footprint in Vis-Min markets
Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc.’s airport portfolio handled 16.17 million passengers last year amid steady recovery in air travel demand across the Visayas and Northern Mindanao regions despite a series of natural disasters.
In a statement, Aboitiz InfraCapital said the total volume was anchored by 11.6 million travelers at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, the Philippines’ busiest aviation hub outside of Manila. That figure represents a nearly three percent increase from the 11.3 million passengers recorded in 2024.
The group’s consolidated figures also include 2.35 million passengers at Laguindingan International Airport and 2.22 million at Bohol-Panglao International Airport.
The 2025 results marked a transition period for Aboitiz InfraCapital, the infrastructure unit of the Aboitiz Group, which took over operations of the Laguindingan and Bohol facilities in April and June, respectively.
Following those handovers, the two airports logged 1.6 million and 1.07 million passengers through the remainder of the year.
Laguindingan, located in Misamis Oriental, currently ranks as the country’s sixth-busiest airport, while the Bohol-Panglao facility holds the ninth spot.
Rafael M. Aboitiz, Aboitiz InfraCapital vice president and head of airports, said 2025 was a landmark year focused on expanding connectivity for domestic and international travelers.
He noted that the integration of the three hubs has created a more seamless transit network for passengers moving between Cebu, Bohol, and Northern Mindanao.
The growth comes at a time of increased investment in regional infrastructure to support tourism and business travel, which serve as primary drivers for the provincial economy.
The resilience of the passenger numbers is notable given the operational hurdles faced in 2025. The region was struck by a 6.9-magnitude earthquake centered near Bogo City, Cebu, and a 7.4-magnitude quake in Davao Oriental.
Additionally, the Visayas and Mindanao regions were impacted by Typhoons Tino and Uwan.
