CEBU CITY – Police arrested two illegal gun manufacturers in a mountain barangay in Danao City, northern Cebu province on Sunday, Jan. 25.
Police said the two suspects, Juan, 69, and Cris, 31, were busy manufacturing guns in a shanty in Barangay Cahumayan when they were arrested around 4:30 a.m.
A .357 revolver, unfinished firearms, assorted magazines, bullets, empty shells, and gun-making paraphernalia were seized during the operation.
The suspects were brought to the Danao City Police Station while awaiting charges to be filed against them.
“This successful arrest reflects our firm resolve to dismantle illegal firearms manufacturing activities,” said Police Col. Abubakar Mangelen Jr., chief of the Cebu Police Provincial Office, who commended the Danao police for the arrest.
Mangelen said the campaign against loose firearms will continue as he appealed for cooperation from the community to uncover those involved in illegal manufacturing of firearms.
“Preventing the spread of loose firearms is essential to maintaining peace and protecting our communities,” said Mangelen.
